When we learned that one of the great pieces of public art in the Lower Haight would soon come down, we rushed over to the 'hood to say our final goodbyes. The wall at Haight and Laguna streets, mainly known for its seven-foot statue "Silly Pink Bunny" by local artist Jeremy Fish, will be removed the second week of September, so it's time for you to bid it adieu.
The art was always intended to be temporary, so it's not like this is a huge surprise. It was commissioned in 2010 to help spruce up the abandoned UC Berkeley Campus. As of this month, the funding and plans of 55 Laguna LGBT Housing Project were approved, so they're moving forward with the demolition.
While we were in the Lower Haight, we also shot some of the other awesome murals that dot the neighborhood.
