Wine tasting jaunts to Napa are nice and all, but if you’re not feeling the trek, the cash or the bowls of tasting crackers, head to B3, the Mission’s first wine “speakeasy” which just opened yesterday and offers an affordable wine tastings along with a full service food menu.
Pronounced B-Cubed (a nod to their winning trifecta of bottles, burgers and bites), the Valencia newcomer will offer 40-plus small-scale, off-the-radar wines at killer prices. You can order by the one-and-a-half-ounce taste, the glass or the bottle (and can even buy cases at slashed prices to take home). Many of their regular-menu glasses are sub $10, but their two nightly happy hours (from 3 to 6 p.m., and 10 p.m. to midnight) are where the serious savings are to be had.
The chef’s a vet of Yountville’s Ad Hoc, so expect solid burgers, Sonoma-sourced sausages on Acme rolls and sinful onion rings and hand-cut fries.
