Style tips: Remember that style is not only how you dress but how you live.
Style Icon:
Do people even have icons anymore? Style is about being exposed to your environment and culture, and developing who you are stylistically as a result of it.
One-on-one:
I love black because it’s the perfect staple. I don’t do well with prints or tribal.
Advice to the SF fashion-forward:
The weather presents an opportunity for fashion. Invest in a jacket, trench, or blazer. It’s also a good city for leather.
Katie Hintz-Zambrano, Senior Editor for Refinery29
On Style: Style is about more than just the clothes you put on—it is about how you aesthetically choose to live your everyday life. Where you go to eat. How you spend your weekends. What fragrance you wear. It’s all in these little details.
On SF style:
San Franciscans are in a bit of a weather and terrain-driven fashion conundrum. It’s about being effortless, comfortable, and outdoorsy for a very cool SF look.
Katie in SF vs. Katie in NY:
There’s a lot less judgment here than in New York. I feel completely free to experiment. And I shop a lot more vintage than I ever did there."
Her favorite menswear items:
A plaid shirt, a pair of dark denim, a wallaby-looking shoe, an army jacket, and some cool Warby Parker frames. Then any guy is good to go.
Favorite SF stores:
ACRE/SF, Acrimony, Reliquary, Dish Boutique

Style tips:
Don’t get caught up in labels. Less is more! The more minimal you are, the more your style shines through.

Favorite Brands: Supreme, Nike, Alexander Wang, A.P.C., Norse Projects, Jack Spade, J. Crew

On dressing for the office: Comfort is always key at work. Try adding a hint of sportswear to a casual office look with some Nike high-top sneakers.
Style tip: Integrate a touch of edge into what you wear to avoid being predictable.

Favorite SF Stores:Hermès, Bergdorf Goodman, Bottega Veneta, Loro Piana
Favorite Brands: Hermès for handbags, Manolo Blahnik for shoes, Stella McCartney for pantsuits, Céline for cashmere, and Burberry for raincoats
Style Tip: If you are the creative type, don’t be afraid to add your own personal touches to an item. Try adding fur and feathers or altering the sleeves and necklines to better mirror your own personal style.
On jewelry: Be bold. Accessorize with vibrant statement pieces such as colorful bracelets and large earrings. Vintage pieces—such as 60s deco jewelry—are timeless.

Advice for SF fashinistas/fashinistos: Lots of layers, long sleeves, and long pants, as dictated by the constantly changing weather.
