We tagged along on a couple of job sites with Andrew Lawrence of Gentleman Scholar Signs.
The first stop was Lawrence's Potrero studio where we got a little introduction to the process of sign painting, then it was off (via bicycle) to the new Market St. restaurant ALTA, opening in late December, to observe the painting of the doorway sign. We watched as Lawrence demostrated his traditional techniques of fine hand-lettering. Check out him out in full swing through the photos.
