Skip out of the office for an extended lunch break. Alembic is giving away free pulled pork sliders for one day only to usher in its new daily lunch offerings. Don't get carried away—there's a limit of two per person. Plan to quaff a brew as you take advantage of this deal and then stop by Escape to New York for a slice on your way back to the office.

Kasa 2 Comes To The Marina

(blog)
Coming soon to the Marina: Kasa
Ed Anderson

Though the doom-and-gloom restaurant talk is completely warranted, since plenty of great restaurants have closed in the last six months, it's nice to see, occasionally, places that are doing well against the odds—or because of them. Kasa Indian Eatery is one of those places.

Make the trek up to the Marina for a taste of Tacolicious at Laïola. Every Tuesday from now until the end of the year, the taco joint will take over for T-Lish Tuesdays. From 5 p.m. to close, you can score three tacos for $10 (out of the six types available), plus salads, ceviche, pozole and cocktails. And if you're looking for a truly kick-ass special, order a shot of Don Julio Reposado, a can of Tecate and the taco del dia for only $10.

Come and get it.

In celebration of Oktoberfest, you can enjoy a house-made Andouille Brioche Dog served with country chow chow, creole mustard and housemade potato chips and a Spaten for only $10 at 1300 on Fillmore through the end of the month at the restaurant's bar and lounge. From 4:30 p.m. on, 7-days-a-week, you can eat and drink on the cheap.

It's time to get dressed up, doggy-style. Acme Chophouse is hosting a Haute Dog Hour on Thursday, 8/20, where you'll have access to gourmet eats at prices you can swallow. $5 dogs, $3 beers, $5 appetizers and more. It's definitely an affair to remember.

Note: A portion of the sales from the Haute Dog Acme Hour will be donated to the Chefs Collaborative, a leading nonprofit network of chefs that fosters a sustainable food system.

(event)
Free (buy passport to avoid lines)

Plan ahead—August 22 you’ll want to be spending the day at the first-ever San Francisco Street Food Festival—chowing down on delicious eats from over 20 vendors and hanging out in the beer, wine and cocktail garden sampling Duggan McDonnell’s creations. But for ten days starting on August 17, you can bid on crazy silent auction items (with proceeds benefiting La Cocina): everything from a private dinner in your home cooked by Craig Stoll of Delfina to a day spent working in the kitchen at Chez Panisse. Get in on it.
