The restaurant question we get asked more than anything is definitely: "Where should we go for my friend's birthday party?" Generally speaking, the situation involves a party of 10, more than a party of 200, but this restaurant short-list can accomodate a wide scope of food preferences, ambiance and number of people. Since we're of the mindset that hard booze never hurts, we've put a star by the restaurants with a full bar. Go ahead now: Celebrate good times. Common!

With a margarita renaissance in full effect, nothing comes between us and our favorite cocktail.These are heady days for the margarita. For years, one of the world’s most popular cocktails has been a victim of its own fame: More often than not, it appears as a pale version of itself, desecrated by the cloying taste of Rose’s Lime Juice or served sweet and slushy for a guaranteed hangover. But now, thanks to the spate of well-heeled Mexican restaurants opening in the city—such as Colibrí, Impala, Tres Agaves and Velvet Cantina—not to mention our newfound fascination with fancy tequilas, the margarita has reached new heights of respectability.
