Vi Tran and William Bracco started their wedding celebrations a day early with a traditional Vietnamese tea ceremony at Tran's home; and when the groom arrived, he was hit with a slew of challenges to pass in order to get through the front door to see his bride-to-be.

These included dancing to Beyonce's Single Ladies, sharing ring pops, jump rope stunts, a race to down a beer with a straw and, of course, some good old-fashioned bribery. At the end, what granted Bracco entrance was a traditional offering of gifts for Tran's relatives.

The following morning began at the Parc 55 Hotel in downtown San Francisco where the couple got ready for the big day. An elegant ceremony was held at the St. Ignatius Cathedral on the USF campus in a nod to Bracco's faith; and then the festivities carried over to the Asian Art Museum, selected for its culture and architecture.

"It was really important to us to that our wedding was a good representation of who we are," said Tran. "We wanted the wedding to be a mix of both of our heritages, a little bit of Vietnamese and Italian. We also wanted it to have a modern aesthetic while having classical sensibility."

This balance was apparent in their aesthetic and decor—bold meets classic—which can be seen in Tran's Vietnamese dress vs. her wedding gown; and the vivid plum bouquets, fuschia floral centerpieces and napkins, and black-blue bridesmaids dresses against an otherwise neutral palette. Ornate details snaked up a white four-layer cake—hand drawn chocolate swirls, sculpted white flowers with intricate silver beading in the center, and a capital B on top for the last name they would both share.

At the end of the night, while taking photos in front of city hall, Bracco took his favorite moment as a Giant's fan—when the building became engulfed in orange lights. Tran, however, says the first dance was her most memorable experience as they had spent an entire month learning the steps, and on the dance floor, it all came together.
