This phenomenal women-centric series will feature talks, films, performances, and more at libraries across San Francisco. Look out for topics including women rockers of the '60s and '70s and immigrant women in California; learn to soul line dance; and catch a show by the Devil-Ettes—and then learn how to dance. Channel your inner party animal for a southern-themed Mardi Gras celebration. Starbelly's chef is putting together another massive feast, this time featuring a whole-roasted Devil's Gulch Ranch pig. Fans of Mister Jiu's have eagerly anticipated the opening of Moongate Lounge, a seductive, pink-velvet-swathed drinking enclave tucked above the restaurant. The moody space is offering a selection of natural wines and six rotating cocktails based on the Chinese lunar calendar, as well as six house drinks named after moons. For food, chef Brandon Jew is turning out small plates of king crab Rangoon, egg foo young, and four seas banquet chicken.
The Beat Generation Exhibition

Explore a new art exhibit highlighting the life and work of abstract expressionist painter Arthur Monroe, the Oakland Cannery–based artist credited with pioneering the live-work artist studio who is soon to be inducted into the Smithsonian Institute of African American History and Culture. This exhibit, curated by his son, Alistair, features a selection of sculptures, photography, drawings, and paintings, and is free to visit.
