150 Local Artists Open Their Doors This Weekend at Hunters Point Shipyard Studios
27 April 2011
If you love scoping out or collecting from the city's vibrant art scene but want to break out of the same old Tenderloin-Downtown-Mission circuit, take an excursion out to the Hunters Point Shipyard Studios this weekend, where more than 150 talented fine artists will throw open their doors to show the city just what they've been getting up to out there.
Inhabiting eight buildings at two sites, this giant art colony on the edge of the city excels in tons of different art media, like photography, jewelry making, metalwork, textiles, ceramics, paintings, sculptures, performance and beyond. They'll be giving demonstrations to help curious visitors explore everything from the wildlife of Hunters Point to Japanese woodblock printing techniques. The whole thing is free, including secure parking.
