It's no secret that parking in the city is a bitch. So we've enlisted local parking guru and author of Finding the Sweet Spot, David LaBua, to dish out weekly tips on navigating the ins and outs of city parking.

I just obtained some San Francisco transportation facts from SFMTA from Fiscal Year 2010, and I’ve compared these with FY 2009 San Francisco transportation facts.  They indeed verify the statement that truth is stranger than fiction.

It took 43 more parking control officers and 5 more supervisors to issue 100,000 less tickets.                   

The number of parking spaces was never actually officially counted until this year. And apparently, there are 161,149 fewer spots available than previously thought.

There were nearly the exact same number of collisions on the streets of San Francisco, but 30% fewer of them were fatal.  So apparently, we are driving (and walking, and biking) as recklessly this year as we did last year, but we’re doing so at safer speeds.
