2 Style Showdowns Have Local Bloggers, Stylists & Designers Vying for Fashion Dominance
05 April 2011
The pursuit of style gets competitive in the coming days with the arrival of two spring style showdowns pitting local bloggers, stylists, designers and models against one another to vie for fashion dominance.
As part of extensive line-up of fashion-minded diversions at Sunday’s Thread Show event at the Metreon, local style bloggers will compete in the Live Style Series by dressing models in apparel and accessories plucked from the inventory of independent designers and labels participating in the show.
Along with 7x7.com's own Lily Ko, Bay Area bloggers flexing their fashion muscles during the event include Adelle McElveen of the Fashionista Lab, Sugar Lips Lifestyle Tips' Jacyn Siebert, Joe Nikolaou of SF Examiner and Julie Chiem of She Wears, She Shares.
Below, a look at the models in the recent Live Style Series in San Diego:
Expect to see fashion from names such as MENK, Sub Urban Riot, Effie’s Heart, Nobly, Favala and Blitz Couture on the male and female models, who’ll showcase new looks every half-hour. Shoppers and onlookers will vote via Twitter during the three-hour style-off. The winner who emerges victorious will walk away with a serious bag of stylish swag from the show.
Ready to go? You can save half on regular admission ($10) when you RSVP here. Thread Show: April 10 at Metreon, 1010 4th St. 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission, $10.
On Tuesday, the finale of this year’s Fashion Feud brings the winning designers from the previous three competitions together for an evening of super-fast fashion at Rickshaw Stop. With 60 minutes on the clock and three yards of fabric each, designers Crystal Hermann, Krysztina Lazar and Sally Marie Hahn will race to create the winning design that’ll appear on models during the final walk-off before judges Joseph Domingo, Zoe Hong and John Robblee.
While the designers sew like mad, attendees of this free event can bide their time with hair and make-up sessions courtesy of the stylists from Pigment Cosmetics and Edo Salon and shop from independent vendors, including Bobbepin, Revelation by M.E., Saga Swimwear and Stay in the Light.
Want in? Fashion Feud, Final Competition: April 12 at Rickshaw Stop, 155 Fell St. Doors open at 7 p.m. Free.
