Barnard College To Consider Admitting Transgender Women, USA Today
"Following the lead of many all-female institutions across the country, Barnard College announced this week that it is considering the implementation of a policy that will make transgender women eligible for admission. “The time has come for us to examine how we, as a women’s college, define ‘women,’ and how, consequently, we both admit and graduate students,” said Barnard’s president, Debora L. Spar, in a letter to the student body. For the past six months, Barnard College’s board of trustees have held a series of town hall-style meetings in which current students, faculty and alumnae debated the policy change that would offer admission to transgender women."
