6 SF Fundraisers to Help Victims of the NorCal Wildfires
24 October 2017
Wednesday, October 25: Hump Day @ Anina + Brass Tacks
When: 2-11pm (come and go as you please)
Where: Anina: 482 Hayes St. #A and Brass Tacks: 488 Hayes St. #A (Hayes Valley)
Why: Bring Wednesday's Happy Hour to Hayes Valley, where Anina and Brass Tacks are teaming up to raise funds (their goal is $10k) for the Redwood Credit Union North Bay Fire Relief Fund. A portion of proceeds from every drink (and all food) you order will go to the cause, so grab a couple of friends and take down one of Anina's punch bowls—get the Southern Hospitality with bourbon, black tea peach, lemon, and soda. Try your luck at winning raffle prizes, like booze, spa treatments, clothing, and gift certificates, and then head to Anina's chic patio for a silent auction from 4-8pm.
Saturday, October 28: 10-Course Indian Buffet @ New Delhi Restaurant
When: 5:30-9:30pm
Where: 160 Ellis St. (Union Square)
Why: Nothing will prep your stomach for the upcoming Thanksgiving feast like the 10-course Indian buffet at New Delhi Restaurant. With a goal to raise $50,000, your donation (suggested $40) will be given to members of the hospitality industry that have lost jobs or been displaced due to the fires.
November 4-5: SF's Biggest Wine Market @ Fort Mason Center
When: 1-5pm
Where: 2 Marina Blvd. (Marina)
Why: Your ticket to the annual SF Vintner's Market gets you a glass and access to vino from more than 200 local wineries. This year, 50 percent of ticket sales for Sunday will be donated to the Redwood Credit Union Community Disaster Relief Fund, but if you really want to help, purchase bottles of your favorite tastings. The wineries need all the support they can get right now. // Get tickets (starting at $85) at eventbrite.com.
Thursday, November 9: Sip Exclusive Vino from Russian River Valley @ Fort Mason
When: 5:30-8:30pm
Where: 1 Fort Mason, General's Residence (Marina)
Why: No, Single Vineyard Night is not speed dating for wine drinkers. More than 30 vintners will be pouring exclusive, limited-release wines—you can't find these in stores—from the Russian River Valley, best known for exceptional pinot and chardonnay. Pair wines with passed bites and street tacos, and bid in the silent auction. One hundred percent of proceeds will go towards wine country fire relief. // Get tickets ($85 general admission, $100 VIP) on Eventbrite.
Friday, November 10: Open Bar @ Oddjob
When: 9pm-12am
Where: 1337 Mission St. (SOMA)
Why: Open. Bar. If you're still not convinced, 100 percent of your $40 ticket for Relieve and Rebuild Napa & Sonoma will be divided between two funds that support fire victims: the Napa Valley Community Foundation and the Community Foundation of Sonoma County. Sip wine, champagne, or Oddjob's specialty cocktails like When Harry Met Harry (cucumber vodka, horseradish, heirloom tomatoes, yellow bell peppers, lime, and sriracha salt), and dance all night to music from wait what and DJ Petros. // Get tickets ($40) at eventbrite.com.
November 13-19: A Restaurant Week for Fire Victims @ Various SF Restaurants
Where: Restaurants throughout San Francisco
Why: Restaurant Week comes early this year with ChefsGiving, a weeklong fundraiser featuring special menus, pop-ups, and events at local establishments to raise money for fire relief. Organized by the Golden Gate Restaurant Association, more than 100 restaurants, bars, and wineries across the country will participate, including San Francisco notables like Mourad, Outerlands, The Slanted Door, The Riddler, La Folie, and Dumpling Time. A grand finale event will take place at the San Francisco Ferry Building, where the funds raised will be handed over to The Tipping Point Emergency Relief Fund and Restaurants Care. // For more details on when and where to get your grub on, visit chefsgiving.org.
