Before the holiday, we celebrated our Hot 20 inductees in style with a fete at Guerro Gallery, where craft drinks flowed and some of the best, brightest and most inspiring Bay Area innovators came together to celebrate their accomplishments.
Every year, 7x7 recognizes local tastemakers who are making waves in a multitude of industries from art to science, politics to gastronomy. This year, we were proud to present a clarion group of perennial innovators, co-curated alongside Gina Pell, the content chief at TheWhat, that are as diverse in age as they are in super powers. This powerhouse of a group included pop culture icon, Tabitha Soren, who went from MTV reporter to fine art photographer; political activist and organizer, Kimberly Ellis; humanitarian and founder of Near Future Summit, Zem Joaquin; founder of Single Thread farm and restaurant, Katina and Kyle Connaughton; San Francisco Chief Attorney, Matt Gonzalez; and 21-year-old drag queen and first-time author, Brittney Newell. Each was celebrated for their incredible accomplishments, as well as all that they are personally moved by—inspirations, curiosities, and heroes.
On November 16th, the Hot 20 gathered with friends and family to commend joint achievements as a community of extraordinary individuals. Titillating craft cocktails were provided by Beam's Suntory Whiskey, Sipsmith Gin, and SF Bartenders, while delectable passed bites from Fogcutter Catering made their way around the gallery. ArtSpan, who co-hosted the event, brought their community and a poet to add to the creative energy. Donations were also collected to support their cause. We ate, drank, took goofy photos with SharingBox's booth, laughed, and got to know some extraordinary people over the course of the night.
Congrats to this year's Hot 20!
