Film buffs, listen up. FIFTY24SF is working with the art department of Coppola's newest horror film, Twixt, to recreate a set inside the gallery. The installation, TWIXT sc. 83, reflects the film's DIY aesthetic but that's not to say that it's anything like crafty.
With his past three films, Coppola has worked with his production studio, American Zoetrope, to write, finance, produce, and distribute his films. His team built the sets for Twixt in and around Coppola's home as well as in small towns in northern Napa and Lake counties. The gallery set is based on scene 83, the movie's dramatic climax. Expect a thrilling 3D experience, complete with other film props, behind-the-scenes photo archives, plus trailers for the film. And to promote the show, FIFTY24SF is painting the town red, literally—they're covering the area with bloody handprints to build up the hype. Check out more details about the exhibit here. See movie trailer below.
Opening reception for TWIXT sc. 83, 7 p.m., 1/13, FIFTY24SF, 218 Fillmore St., fifty24sf.com
