It's not often a real red carpet comes to San Francisco, so here's your chance to get right next to all the action. The Al Pacino-directed Oscar Wilde documentary Wilde Salome (about the life of famous playwright and philosopher Oscar Wilde) makes its US debut next week after five yeards in production on Wednesday at the glorious Castro Theatre. Pacino himself will come to town to present his film, along with the Wilde Salome cast and producer.
If you're a film buff or even just an Al Pacino superfan, Wilde Salome provides an intimate, behind-the-scenes glimpse into Wilde's life–especially fascinating as seen through Pacino's lense (it also features up-and-coming actor Jessica Chastain!). But you have to act fast; less than 1,000 tickets are available and will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. Grab some here, they're only $25, and proceeds go to the GLBT Historical Society.
The film’s debut will celebrate the 130th anniversary of Oscar Wilde’s stay in San Francisco in March 1882. An official proclamation provided by San Francisco Mayor Lee’s office will officially mark March 21, 2012 as “Oscar Wilde Day.”
This glitzy, fun night at the theater is presented by Banana Republic and Wells Fargo. For more details, click here.
