Cat Wu: Not Just Motos
She had us a year ago with the butteriest, most perfectly cut leather moto we ever did see. Now, Catherine Wu is wooing us again with the launch of several new pieces. Our favorites: the luxe and splurge-worthy Italian calf-suede midi coat ($1,650) in gray or tan, and the Topknot tote ($265), made of super lightweight lambskin and available in several rich shades. And if you're wondering, yes, we're still crushing hard on our first love. // Shop online at catwu.com
Trip out on Hayes Street
And by that we mean get your suitcase shopping on at the just landed, and much anticipated Away store on Hayes (in the former Kit and Ace digs). The sleek space is the perfect backdrop for the red-hot luggage-maker's minimalist hardshell suitcases with built-in USB chargers. The Instagram A-listers are available in tons of fun colors, which makes for easy spotting at baggage claim. The Carry-On sells for $225 and the largest case is $295. (Along with the suitcases, we're obsessed with the quirky leather stickers.) // 371 Hayes St. (Hayes Valley), awaytravel.com
Stylist Chad Malm Is Back and Badder Than Ever
Is a haircut by a seasoned pro for less than $100 music to your mane? Get thee into Chad Malm's chair at Bad Jax Haircuts, his brand-new Union Square salon. This is not the stylist's first SF rodeo, mind you: he was the owner of the much-loved Claude Nine Salon (on Claude Lane) from 1995 to 2001. After 16 years living on the other coast, Malm, who has been featured in glossies like Allure, Harpers Bazaar and Cosmopolitan, is back and excited to be building a fresh space with a talented team of stylists and colorists. The salon scores bonus points for being open seven days a week, 7am to 7pm. // 545 Sutter St. Suite 201 (Union Square), 415-653-3395, badjaxhaircuts.com
Buy a Tee for Cool Effect
Not only does the Backbone T from Livari ooze cool but it benefits Cool Effect, a San Francisco non-profit devoted to fighting climate change through crowdfunding. Yep, $10.98 of the $75 limited-edition Hodaya Louis-designed shirt will help fund a world-class carbon reduction project in Bagepalli, India. The shirts can be ordered online through November 27 and will be delivered by December 25. (Chic holiday gifts, anyone?) Fashion girls will be happy to know the shirt and the entire line debuted at New York Fashion Week. The zero-waste label is the baby of a cool (naturally) power trio: actress Alysia Reiner (Orange is the New Black, Better Things), Tabitha St. Bernard (Women's March founder) and celebrity stylist Claudine De Sola. // livariclothing.com
