A new destination for all-natural skincare products and aromatherapy has arrived in Noe Valley, where cozy shop Heliotrope quietly opened its doors yesterday on Church Street.
While the newcomer will ultimately be home to the Heliotrope house brand of skin and body care products, a line that is due to launch next month, the space currently offers an array of eco-friendly, natural product lines, including EO, Earth Science, Naked Bee and Desert Essences.
“We’re trying to be all-natural and as green as we can be,” says co-owner Jonathan Plotzker.
A focus on the locally-produced means French-milled vegetable-based soaps by River Soap, teas by Juniper Ridge and chocolates by Poco Dolce. Aromatherapy books, plush bathrobes, eye pillows and exfoliating sponges make the store a logical first stop before indulging in a much-needed at-home spa day.
Plotzker, who honed his skills in the beauty industry while working for Bare Escentuals during the 1990’s, tells us that he and business partner Don Snider couldn’t pass the store space up when it became available and decided to open up shop in advance of their line’s upcoming launch. The product line for men and women, coming in July, will be fragrance-free. An aromatherapy bar will allow customers to custom-blend scents for their products, a move that they hope will make the line appealing to both men and women.
“We figure there are a lot of guys who want to take care of their skin, but don’t want to smell like everybody else,” Plotzker says.
Stop by the shop this week for a free 1 oz. sample of Heliotrope body lotion, which can be exchanged when the full line launches next month for 25 percent off your first purchase.
