Big Changes on Hayes Street, First Rite Launches Online, and More Shop Talk
09 April 2014
Bringing you the latest in retail therapy around the Bay Area.
One of our favorite local boutiques, Reliquary, is moving from Octavia Street, where it's been for three years, to a more visible locale right on Hayes Street. In the old Nida space, at 544 Hayes, to be exact. Expect an opening in May...or a little later.
Also on Hayes Street, menswear boutique Nomads is saying goodbye to the strip after a whopping 23 years and 9 months in business. The shop, which sells everything from Jack Spade to Nixon, is having a big 30-80 percent off sale up until its final day, April 20.
Meanwhile, Oakland favorite Umami Mart will be setting up shop within The Perish Trust space on Divisadero Street through the end of the year. Go there for Japanese kitchen and barware goods and other quirky items.
Farther south, the Westfield Valley Fair shopping center in Silicon Valley has announced summer openings of a Giorgio Armani and Balenciaga boutique.
And, in cyber openings, standout local label First Rite is now hawking its stuff online – they launched an e-commerce site just last week.
