San Francisco is not lacking in the themed bars category. Nevertheless, a new trendy watering hole has taken it upon itself to join the ranks. Five minutes in Bloodhound, which opened its doors in early February (replacing former neighborhood favorite Cassidy's) will make you wonder where exactly you veered off course in SoMa and wound up in your Uncle Billy's hunting room in West Virginia.
The theme is a chic hunting lodge, and birds painted on the ceiling give the effect that an avian hover just over your head (oddly reminiscent of Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds), while unfinished wood walls and antler finishes further enhance the feel. The prices are reasonable (cocktails are under $10), and Bloodhound brings a healthy diversity to the area, which also houses local hotspot, 1015 Folsom. Those who aren't content with just sitting still enjoying the ambiance can go buck hunting via the arcade game in the back or join in on a game of pool.
Bloodhound is located at 1145 Folsom Street and is open daily until 2am. Currently, happy hour offerings are on tap from 5 to 7pm every day.
