Calling All Men: Bring Your Guns to the SF Opera and You Could End Up Onstage
15 November 2010
The words "seeking adult males with strength and athletic ability," read more like a porn audition, male model call, or kinky personal ad than they do of a press release from the SF Opera, but hey, it caught our attention. And now it's got yours. It's so good we just had to repeat it for you, word by word:
"Great at push-ups and pull-ups? Do you put your friends to shame at the gym? Come show us what you’ve got! You don’t need to be a Navy Seal, but we’re looking for something close. This opportunity is the chance of a lifetime for ten talented men who will have the chance to show off their physical prowess to a crowd of thousands and to work alongside some of the most prominent names in opera and theater. Desired skills include push-ups, pull-ups, body strength, endurance, hand-over-hand, staged combat and full body control. Approximate height between 5' 11" inches and 6' 2" tall, preferred but not required. Ten men will be offered an eight-week union contract from August 8 – September 30, 2011 for a yet to be announced company production."
So. Crazy. Good. If you know anyone who fits the bill and would kill for the chance to show his pecks onstage to a live audience, have him email email Tim Meyer, Dance Manager at jmeyer@sfopera.com.
Audition details: Saturday, 12/4 from 2 – 4 p.m. at Zellerbach Rehearsal Hall, Room B, Franklin Street at Hayes
