Camp Under The Stars In Oakland at June's Bluegrass for The Greenbelt Festival
11 April 2011
If you can't make it until October when SF's famed Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival rolls around for your annual dose of bluegrass, fear not. Warren Hellman is here to soothe your soul with the sixth annual Bluegrass for the Greenbelt Festival this June in Oakland.
On two stages at the Dunsmuir Estate on June 3rd and 4th, it'll serve up a ton of foot-stomping, finger-picking and soulful wailing, featuring bands like Marley's Ghost, legendary songwriter Jimmie Dale Gilmore and The Wronglers on the big stage, as well as The Tuttles with AJ Lee and Arann Harris and The Farm Band on the small stage.
If you're game to make a weekend out of it and camp under the stars on the grounds of the Dunsmuir Estate, bring a tent and sleeping bags the night of Friday, June 3rd and get an extra fix of action with bluegrass star Nell Robinson and guitarist Jim Nunally. During the day, kids can get riled up with pony rides, face painting, a petting zoo and more.
And of course, many of the proceeds will go to benefit the Greenbelt Alliance, which fiercely advocates for open and vibrant spaces in the Bay Area and beyond. For ticket information, go to the festival's Facebook. Until May 13th, you can get an early bird special on tickets, which will cost $25 instead of the regular $30.
