San Francisco-based fine jeweler Cast continues its retail expansion with a new boutique at Stanford Shopping Center, joining older siblings in Village at Corte Madera and Santana Row. Friends and cofounders Rachel Skelly and Eric Ryan launched their company two-and-half-years ago with a simple mission: to make jewelry and jewelry shopping fun, full stop.

Cast’s signature colorful and whimsical store design begs shoppers to touch, try, and layer on the bling. The joyful vibe of the interior is only overshadowed by the brilliant pieces themselves. Each collection is a collaboration with eclectic and talented designers and guest artists. From the iconic Flip ring (worn by Jennifer Coolidge’s character on season two of White Lotus) to Windy Chien’s Circuit collection to all sorts of deliciously decadent gems, the gang’s all here.

The new Birkenstock by The Great collection will knock your socks off.

Florals for spring are usually meh. But the second release of the Birkenstock x The Great will have you kicking up your heels (no backs, no matter). Like the first collaboration which sold out in a blink last year, this limited-edition collection features Birks’ signature Arizona and Boston shoe styles customized by Cali-cool lifestyle brand The Great.

For each of the five designs, a special tooling technique is used to create a wildflower motif. Then, each pair ($325 to $345) is hand-painted by local artisans.

The partnership between the two brands is a natural one, as The Great designers Emily Current and Meritt Elliott have been incorporating Birkenstocks into their photoshoots for decades, becoming a regular part of their visual storytelling.

“We have been good friends with Emily and Meritt for years. Their philosophy at The Great naturally connects with the Birkenstock attitude of being comfortable and loving what you dress in, regardless of where you are going,” says David Kahan, president of Birkenstock Americas, based in Novato.

On second thought, forget what we said about the socks—keep ‘em on, they’re hot.
