Cats, Tats, Cocktails and Street Food Come Together at the SF SPCA's Adoptathon This Weekend
07 February 2012
Animals and happy hour. What could be a better combo? Add in animal tattoos, and it's pretty much a given that this weekend is going to be the coolest we've had in a while. If you're a cat lover, listen up, because this weekend's tailored specifically for you: The SF SPCA is throwing their epic Cats, Tats, Cocktails & Voodoo Adoptathon and happy hour at their Potrero Hill HQ, and there are a ton of activities and pet adoption opportunities you won't want to miss.
On Friday, February 10, their Very Happy Hour (from 4-8 pm) will be hosted by none other than Jackson Galaxy, host of Animal Planet's incredible cats-gone-wild reality show "My Cat From Hell." Beyond cocktails, one of SF's finest tattoo artists, Ken Een of Frisco Tattoo will be doing custom tattoos for a staggering $30, and you'll be able to get your grub on at Flexx Bronco's Voodoo Van. To top it all off, if you're in the market to adopt a pet, any dog or cat six months or older will set you back just $10.
On Saturday, February 11, adoption fees go up just one dollar ($11!). You can attend a cat behavior workshop with Jackson Galaxy, get pet advice from the SF SPCA's Dr. Jeannine Berger, and take your kids to a puppy kissing booth. Come Sunday, adoption fees will still be insanely low at only $12. Just think of it: This weekend, you might just find your new best friend.
And last but not least, an SF SPCA colleague and tattoo enthusiast, Laura Gretch, is getting into the spirit of Adoptathon weekend by auctioning herself off on eBay! The highest bidder will get to choose what her next tattoo will be (so if you've never taken the plunge, you can live vicariously through her!). The money raised will go to help the SF SPCA's efforts.
