We at 7x7 have celebrated many a power couple, as there's no shortage of them here in the Bay Area. Now, just in time for Valentine's Day, the Contemporary Jewish Museum is doing the same. Inspired by the husband-wife duo who created ubiquitous childhood nostalgia meme Curious George, Margret and H.A. Rey, the museum is highlighting successful, entrepreneurial couples to spark curiosity in love birds around town.
In this Sunday's event, entitled No More Monkey Business: Bay Area Creative Couples Present the Secrets of their Creative Success, vintners Jodie and Jeff Morgan of Napa's Covenant Wines and filmmakers Ken Goldberg and wife Tiffany Shlain (who founded the Webby Awards and made the film "Connected", a 2011 Sundance selection) will share how they handle their accomplishments as couples.
Dan Schifrin, who helped organize the event, chose these couples because they're so different from one another: "Ken and Tiffany represent a typical SF merging of technology, culture and style, and their creative output––digital art and film––characterize an important aspect of the Bay Area zeitgeist," says Schifrin. "Jodie and Jeff Morgan produce something more tangible––wine––which is of course another staple of Bay Area culture."
They'll play fascinating clips of couples from the museum's StoryCorps Storybooth, their oral history project documenting people from all social, professional, racial and religious backgrounds. For inquiring minds, there will be a Q&A session afterwards. Love comes in endless forms, and this is a cool slice of how a few great minds make it work.
No More Monkey Business, Sunday, Feb. 13th from 2-4 pm at the Contemporary Jewish Museum, 736 Mission St., 415-655-7800
