1) Drink at Cultivate San Francisco Festival
Golden Gate Park is getting fresh this Saturday, June 8. Chipotle Mexican Grill is hosting the first-ever Cultivate Festival with food, beer, music, and activities for kids and grown-ups. Bring the whole family to Hellman Hollow from 11 am to 7 pm, where you’ll pay $5 per plate for grilled flatbread gorditas, chicken and sofritas tacos, a charred esquites salad, or a jasmine rice bowl with pork and chicken meatballs or organic tofu. The Tasting Hall will sell local craft beer and wine for $6, including Cultivate Farmhouse Ale, a special collaboration brew between Chipotle and Speakeasy Ales. Throughout the day, guest chefs will demonstrate cooking techniques in the on-site kitchens. You can even “Learn a Burrito” by participating in Cultivate “Experiences,” such as a Tabasco Mash Tasting, a “Farm Facts” comparison of animals raised on a pasture versus those raised in confinement, and a short film about better food and a healthier environment. The Kids’ Zone includes a T-shirt making station, a giant interactive chalkboard, and a “plant your own salsa garden” activity. The Cultivate Festival is free to attend, but you’ll need cash for beer and food.

3) Brew Your Own Beer for Southpaw
Southpaw BBQ Brewmaster Phil Cutti will be sharing his secrets–and his brewhouse–for an upcoming Southpaw Seasonal Brewing Class that starts on Tuesday, June 11. From 7-9 pm, ten budding brewers will explore the world of seasonal beer styles and use the Siebel sensory training kit to learn to identify common off-flavors and flaws of these styles. The second class, on June 23, begins at 6am for a full day of brewing, in which the students will design and brew a collaboration beer under Cutti’s expert tutelage. The collaboration brew will go on tap at Southpaw on the last day of class, July 10. The final session includes a celebratory tasting with classmates and a $2 discount on all pints until the collaboration keg runs dry. The class costs $200 and is limited to 10 students, so sign up online soon. All classes will take place at Southpaw BBQ, located at 2170 Mission Street @ 18th.
4) Crazy Hip Hop Mondays at Beauty Bar
Who says you have to wait for the weekend to go dancing? Thanks to Beauty Bar, you can get your groove on every Monday night with The Kidz, a hip-hop DJ collective. This postage stamp-sized hipster hangout is known for its cheap drinks, photo booth, and lack of seating, so you might as well dance. To keep you hydrated, your Beauty Bar-tender will hand over a free PBR every time you buy a Jameson Irish Whiskey. Located at 2299 Mission Street @ 19th, Beauty Bar also hosts the self-described “World Famous Martinis and Manicures Happy Hour,” which means manicurists are on duty every Thursday through Saturday from 6 to 11 pm. No word on whether the martinis are served with a straw, which might allow you to drink them without smearing your nail polish.
5) Seaglass Restaurant at the New Exploratorium
If you think the new Exploratorium is just for kids, think again. There’s a new restaurant attached to the relocated, re-opened museum serving adult beverages, sustainable sushi, and tasty science projects. Seaglass Restaurant is designed to blend seamlessly with the museum experience, from the fresh slab of honeycomb in the buffet line to the “Icy Bodies” art exhibit incorporated into the bar itself. But you don’t have to visit the Exploratorium to explore Seaglass; you can easily slip in the side door from the East end of Pier 15. Besides a thoughtfully curated wine and beer list and a bar line-up showcasing artisanal distillers, Seaglass’ drink menu includes sparkling house-made vinegar beverages and natural soft drinks. The buffet includes a multicultural, family friendly selection of locally-sourced menu items. You’ll find pork tacos and cheese quesadillas in the Sizzle/Taco section, Spatchcocked (Butterflied) Natural Chicken on the Rotisserie, Welsh Rarebit from the Oven, and an assortment of sustainable sashimi at the Ocean Bar. Seaglass Restaurant is open Tuesday through Sunday during museum hours and is located on the first level of the Observatory at the new Exploratorium on Pier 15. Reservations are not accepted.
