Beer for Brunch at Monk's Kettle
Move over, mimosas! There's a new breakfast drink in town. Monk's Kettle launched brunch service last weekend, and their dutch baby pancake pairs perfectly with a fruity triple ale, such as the Guldenberg from De Ranke or the Aphrodite stout from Dieu de Ciel. The new brunch menu is available every Saturday and Sunday from noon to 4pm. // 3141 16th St. (Mission), monkskettle.com
Drink Your Salad at Loló
Loló's latest cocktail menu features a long list of delicious, inventive drinks, including a dozen new additions. The Mexican Zombie substitutes three tequilas for the rum you'd usually find inside, and the Perfect Stranger features a surprisingly tasty combination of goat milk and jalapeño brine mixed with gin, vermouth and sherry. But the real star of the show is the unassuming Quesilo, made with bell pepper infused gin, sherry, lemon, Ruby Port, and egg white, topped with parmesan cheese and black pepper. This refreshing, savory elixir tastes like a boozy salad, and your life won't be complete until you try it. // 974 Valencia St. (Mission), lolosf.com
New Spring Cocktails at Blackbird
Blackbird has also released a new cocktail menu, inspired by the fruits and produce of spring. Bar Manager Matt Grippo is utilizing the garden bounty of celery, bell pepper, tomatoes, citrus, mint and basil to create a line-up showcasing "lighter" cocktails with low ABV, using lots of fortified wines and vermouth. The Strawberry Spritz is a carbonated cocktail made with Cocchi Rosa, Giffard Strawberry and Lo-Fi Dry Vermouth. The Night Shade features tomato-infused Cocchi Americano, Singani, Pamplemousse, Sauvignon Blanc, and cinnamon. // 2124 Market St. (Castro), blackbirdbar.com
