1) Beaujolais Nouveau Celebration at Amélie

If you lived in France, you’d probably be celebrating November 21 with fresh wine, friends and fireworks at festivals with music. That’s because the third Thursday in November is Beaujolais Nouveau Day. Under French law, this cherry-red, best-served-chilled wine is released just after midnight, only weeks after the harvest of the Gamay grapes it’s made from. Here in San Francisco, Amélie wine bar will be hosting its own Beaujolais Nouveau celebration, beginning at 5:30 pm on Thursday. Revelers can purchase the featured Beaujolais Bouchard 2013 by the glass ($8) or bottle ($28), or enjoy a Charcuterie platter and bottle of Beaujolais for $30. Dinner will also be available from Amélie’s menu of French specialties and cross-European contemporary cuisine. 2) Clementime Microhood Block Party

If you’d prefer a neighborhood block party to a Beaujolais Nouveau event, make your way to Clement Street on November 21, from 6 pm to 8 pm, for the Third Annual Clementime Microhood. Billed as a “super-local traveling block party,” “microhoods” are mini-events that celebrate San Francisco’s vibrant micro-neighborhoods. At the Clementime Microhood, you’ll find beer and music at Green Apple Books, white wine and live ukulele tunes at Seedstore, and champagne and fruit at Kisha Studio. Dirty Trix Saloon will be offering complimentary meatball sliders and $1 off cocktails, while Toy Boat Cafe will scoop out a free cone of Double Rainbow Chocolate Salted Caramel Brownie ice cream from 6 pm to 7 pm. Covet Boutique will be handing out cupcakes and champagne, plus a free gift with purchases over $30. 3) Taste & Tribute for Tibet

Twenty-two Bay Area chefs and more than a dozen local wineries will be teaming up to support Tibetan culture this Friday, November 22, at the 13th Annual Taste & Tribute Benefit Gala. Held at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco, the elegant evening begins with a 5:30 pm champagne reception and silent auction in the lobby. At 7 pm, guests are called into the ballroom and seated at a table for 20. Each table features a pair of top local chefs who will prepare a unique four-course meal, table side, with wine pairings donated by local vintners. A live auction accompanies dinner and features exotic getaways and personalized dining opportunities. 4) Dickens Fair Celebrates Food & Drink

Starting this Saturday, you can drink your way back through time every weekend through December 22nd at the Great Dickens Christmas Fair & Victorian Holiday Party. Every Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 7 pm, plus the Friday after Thanksgiving, visitors to the historic Cow Palace will be transported back to Victorian London circa 1865. In addition to wandering through warmly lit winding lanes, shops, tea rooms, lecture halls, a grand Music Hall, and the London dockside with more than 750 authentically-dressed actors, adult attendees can belly up to a Bohemian absinthe bar or any of four authentic British pubs serving draft ales, wine and champagne, hot buttered rum, Irish coffee, hot spiced mead, hot mulled wine and hot toddies. General admission tickets (age 13 and up) are available at the Box Office for $25 for the first 3 weekends and $30 for the final 2 weekends. 5) Give Back the Bird

This Thanksgiving season, you can feed local families by drinking Wild Turkey at some of the Bay Area’s best watering holes. For the entire month of November, 10 bars in San Francisco and the East Bay will be “Giving Back the Bird” by donating proceeds from a special Wild Turkey cocktail on their menu to the San Francisco and Marin Food Banks. Just order one of the drinks, and the charity gets money. Participating bars include Rye, Trick Dog, 15 Romolo, Beretta, Alembic and The Homestead in San Francisco; The New Easy and Sidebar in Oakland; East Bay Spice Company in Berkeley; and Honor in Emeryville. “Give Back the Bird” is presented by Wild Turkey and Jupiter Olympus.
