René Redzepi's First US Appearance
Since René Redzepi's Copenhagen restaurant, Noma, was named best in the world, this young chef has been shoved into the limelight. In celebration of his recently released cookbook, Noma: Place and Time in Nordic Cuisine, he's heading stateside. He'll be appearing in conversation with Daniel Patterson (sorry, sold out), but he'll also be signing copies of his book at Omnivore on October 4 at 3 p.m., and the event is free.
Curing Class with OPEN Restaurant
Those wacky geniuses behind Open Restaurant are at it again, planning OPEN Water, a "two day food and arat exploration of water politics" planned for early November. To get prepared, they are hosting a curing workshop and artist talk with LA-based artist Jen Smith, where they'll be preparing, with your help, sauerkraut and salt-cured lemons to use at OPEN Water. To lend a hand and hear Jen Smith speak, you can purchase tickets for the October 4 event ($35) here.
Celebrate Puglia at La Ciccia!
In conjunction with Puglia wine week, the good folks at La Ciccia are preparing a special meal on October 4 to celebrate the biodynamic wines of producer Cefalicchio. The multicourse dinner will include goat and lamb meatballs in sugo, braised wild boar and Sardinian gnochetti with lamb hearts, along with other delights. Dinner is $90 plus tax and gratuity and seats can be reserved by calling the restaurant at 415-550-8114.
Oktoberfest at Anchor and Hope
Bust out the lederhosen, because on October 7 the Anchor & Hope crew is going German. A $40 ticket to their Oktoberfest bacchanalia assures you food, three German draft beers (more available for purchase at $2 each) and the opportunity to take a spin around the restaurant with one of the Golden Gate Bavarian dancers. An opportunity not to be missed—buy your tickets now!
