Millions of daffodils + 80,000 tulips are blooming at Filoli this spring.

Filoli is considered one of the finest remaining country estates of the 20th century, originally established in 1917 and nestled in the pristine slope of the Santa Cruz mountains. The site delivers one-of-a-kind period-drama every day, year-round. This season millions (yes, millions!) of daffodils are already blooming and more than 80,000 tulips plus a wash of cherry blossoms, wisteria, and many more bountiful blooms are on the way.
Best known as a botanical garden, Filoli boasts more than 16 acres of magical English Renaissance–style gardens and world-renowned seasonal plantings over 600 acres, including the nearly seven-acre Gentlemanʼs Orchard and hundreds of acres of Natural Lands with five distinct ecosystems and a one-mile Estate Trail. Filoli also showcases Gilded Age beauty in the 54,000 square foot historic house.
“Spring is our most popular time of year and it’s no wonder,” says Filoli’s marketing manager, Dani Hielscher, explaining that, while the property has year-round blooms plus hundreds of roses in the summer, Filoli promises an incredible springtime display outside in the gardens, fresh floral arrangements inside the house, and specialty cocktails from Filoli’s Bluebird Bar each weekend. Hielscher encourages visitors to plan in advance as tickets sell out quickly during peak seasons.
Their Quail Café is open daily offering delicious dining, and the Clock Tower Shop nursery is stocked with a variety of plants to start your own garden escape at home.
// Filoli is open 10am to 5pm daily, 86 Cañada Rd. (Woodside); tickets can be purchased in advance at filoli.org.
