This fall, a slew of new bars and restaurants are opening in Napa’s burgeoning downtown.

The team from Carpe Diem is making a move on the cocktail scene with Second & Brown, opening just around the corner from the popular wine bar in October.

1313 Main, the clubby rival of Carpe, revealed a new restaurant within the wine bar called Lulu’s Kitchen on Tuesday (up until now, they only served cheese and charcuterie). The focus will be on small plates in keeping with the casual, loungey vibe.

The dilapidated building next to Fagiani’s at 807 Main, which has been vacant since 2008, is being renovated and transformed into a casual pizzeria by two Yountvillians — one an owner of the Yountville Deli; the other a former manager of Bouchon. The duo told the Yountville Sun they plan to focus on the basics like pepperoni in addition to more “adventurous” toppings, and will offer pizza by the slice.

The owners of Tarla Mediterranean Grill by the Andaz Hotel in Napa have an ambitious restaurant planned for the former Peking Palace on the corner of Second and Main. Across the street from the Veteran’s Memorial Park, they recently received the go-ahead from the city to build a patio on the sidewalk that will offer views of the river. Napkins, as it is called, will have a full bar and stay open until 2 am.

Into the former space of the ill-fated Ubuntu, chef Sean O’Toole, formerly of Bardessono, is opening a casual contemporary American restaurant called Torc, according to the Napa Valley Register. The Gaelic word for “wild boar,” we’re guessing Torc will not be vegetarian. He plans to open in October.
