It’s already known as a sleek happy hour and dinner destination in SoMa, but now 25 Lusk opens its doors for weekday lunch service. Their “Power Lunch” menu includes Wagyu Double Cut Rib Eye, Tri Tip Steak Frites, and the smoky Barbeque Organic Eggplant Sandwich. Lunch served Mon-Fri, 11:30 to 2pm. All weekend, Oakland’s Jack London Square will be transformed into one epic food festival. The Eat Real Festival features a jam-packed lineup of demos, workshops, performances, contests, and more. With more than 40 vendors ranging from Kara’s Cupcakes to Grilled Cheese Bandits to Bacon Bacon, this is an event you won’t want to miss. Need to nurse your sweet tooth? Well, you’re in luck! Candypalooza 2013 has arrived. Saturday and Sunday the Jelly Belly Factory is hosting a free festival with tastings, live music, and factory tours. 9am-5pm Sat and Sun @ One Jelly Belly Lane, Fairfield.
The San Francisco Vegetarian Society is hosting the 2013 World Veg Festival in Golden Gate Park this weekend, celebrating all things vegan, vegetarian, and everything in between. Come experience a series of speakers, demos, samples, and health exhibits which promote a healthy, plant-based diet. Admission is free if you arrive between 10 -10:30am, otherwise it is $10. 10am -6pm, County Fair Building, 9th Ave & Lincoln Way.

National Sake Day, Jackson Square’s Roka Akor, a stylish prime steak, seafood, and sushi restaurant will be donating 40% of all sake bottle sales to Editha House, an affordable lodging resource for cancer patients and their adult caregivers traveling to Phoenix, Ariz. for medical treatment. The San Francisco Cooking School is hosting a Taste Talk on “The Evolution of California Cuisine.” With chefs creating so much of their own product in house, working side by side with farmers, and building menus that change on a daily basis, what does it really mean when we say “California Cuisine?” Learn the answer to this and more from a panel of distinguished Bay Area chefs including Joyce Goldstein, Catherine Pantsios, and Laurence Jossel.
