Media Noche Guest Chef Pop-up Cubano Series
Media Noche is launching a Chefs Cubano series with a new pressed sandwich from a different San Francisco chef each month. This month they teamed up with Telmo Faria of Uma Casa to offer his Bifana, a riff on a traditional Portuguese sandwich with marinated pork loin, a sweet pepper and onion sofrito, and fresh arugula. Ten percent of the proceeds of the sandwich will go to No Kid Hungry, a nonprofit tacking child hunger. Ryan Pollnow (Ne Timeas Group) will offer his sandwich spin (also donating a portion of proceeds to a charity of his choice) in December; and Evan Rich and Liza Shaw are confirmed for early 2018. // 3465 19th St (Mission, medianochesf.com
Ici Ice Cream Opens Second Location
More than a decade after opening the original location on College Ave, Chez Panisse pastry alum Mary Canales will open a second location of Ici Ice Cream in downtown Berkeley later this week (pending approvals). In addition to the much loved ice cream flavors, bombes, bon bons and other goodies available at the flagship location, there'll be special exclusive flavors and milkshakes. Located on Shattuck and University, this makes for the perfect post-Ippudo ramen dessert (or a pre-dinner treat while you wait in line). // 2079 University Ave (Berkeley), iciicecream.com
