Fifteen years ago, Foreign Cinema was a sleek standout in a neighborhood rife with (excellent) taquerias and (glorious) dive bars. It hardly seems out of place today, nestled among the seemingly countless hipster eateries and pricey pubs geared toward the neighborhood's tech elite. On Thursday, the cinematically-themed Cal-Med gem celebrates 15 years of disrupting the neighborhood food scene with a Quintessentially Quixotic Quinceañera.
In addition to a festive menu (look for a whole roasted suckling pig, handmade tortillas, taco station, ceviche bar, and more), Foreign Cinema will feature performances by Heklina and her arsenal of Trannyshack drag queens, theSisters of Perpetual Indulgence, burlesque performances, and other surprises throughout the night.
The Quintessentially Quixotic Quinceañera happens this Thursday, September 18, 7 pm to 11 pm. Tickets run $100. Proceeds go to support LYRIC, a San Francisco queer youth organization, and the Harvey Milk Civil Rights Academy. To purchase tickets for Foreign Cinema's birthday bash, call 415-648-7600, or visit Eventbrite.
