Gucci has a lot to celebrate — 90 years worth. This year marks the Italian luxury house's 90th anniversary and creative director Frida Giannini has designed an exclusive collection to celebrate. The '1921 Collection' is comprised of men's and women's ready to wear, accessories, jewelry and watches and will be available at exclusive Gucci stores, including our own Stockton Street store.
"Throughout this year we are celebrating Gucci's anniversary in many different ways. With this special commemorative collection I wanted to pay homage to the icons, craftmanship and luxury materials for which the House has become renowned since its founding by Guccio Gucci in 1921," explains Giannini. "Each item in the collection tells a story, representing a chapter within the House's rich narrative history."
A nuanced trademark stamps the collection. 'G. GUCCI Firenze 1921' can be found on the inside of accessories, on belt buckles and printed on travel tags. Fan favorites will be the special editions of bestselling handbag styles; the New Bamboo, the New Jackie, and the Horsebit Chain handbags, in calfskin and crocodile, in rich colors like chocolate, khaki, cherry and bottle green. Handsome vintage-inspired men's suitcases are notable, embossed with the historic Diamante pattern.
Gucci motifs make celebratory cameos; the Crest on zip closures and tassels, bamboo detailing on wallets, the original Gucci green on the inside of moccasins. Meanwhile, Gucci's equestrian roots surface via horse-riding boots and the classic horsebit loafer. And that elegantly pungent Italian leather is throughout, even on timepieces.
The 1921 Collection will be available at the Stockton Street store and online come June.
