7x7’s annual Hot 20 is one of our most anticipated features each year. It's a celebration of the region’s most influential movers and shakers who make the Bay Area such an exciting place to live.
Year after year, our editors painstakingly select just 20 winners from a vast pool of incredible brains and talents. This year, we’ve partnered with The San Francisco Foundation to present the Hot 20 Community Choice Award and we want to hear from you, readers: Who is making a difference in your community? Tell us about one of the Bay’s best and brightest stars leading an organization that's changing our world for the better. Selected from a swath of disciplines including the arts, sciences, technology, politics, design, sports, environmentalism...you name it. The winner with the most votes will join 7x7’s prestigious list of 2014 Hot 20 honorees and his/her organization will receive a $20,000 award from The San Francisco Foundation.
Enter your nominations, along with a short explanation to support your choice. Submissions will be accepted through Monday, July 14. On Friday, July 25, we will reveal the top 20 nominees and begin the voting process.
The Fine Print:
This San Francisco Foundation Award is one of four Community Leadership Awards given by The San Francisco Foundation each year. The award celebrates visionary leaders doing extraordinary work to strengthen Bay Area communities. This work may promote the arts and humanities, confront societal or civic issues, or address health or environmental concerns. Past winners include Children’s Book Press, Educators for Fair Consideration, Swords to Plowshares, Oakland Museum, etc.
Criterion:
- Place-based: expressing a solid understanding of Bay Area communities.
- Innovative: taking a new approach that leverages unexpected or uncommon ideas, services, or technologies.
- Impactful: making a measurable difference.
- Leadership: inspiring others to join efforts to address issues in the Bay Area.
- Partnership: leveraging partnerships to reach select populations (i.e. homeless, LGBTQ, foster youth, environmentally at-risk, early school leavers, unemployed, etc.).
The Award:
The Foundation will provide the winner of The San Francisco Foundation Award with $20,000 for his or her organization. In addition, each recipient is provided a suite of services to support their professional or organizational development activities, and promote their work to Bay Area leaders and decisionmakers . The winner of this nomination and voting process will also be featured on 7x7.com and in 7x7’s annual October Hot 20 issue.
