Have you ever walked into a home and had your jaw drop over its incredible aesthetic? Well get ready because this recent reno by Geremia Design is one you're going to fawn over. Bay Area-based Lauren Geremia is known for creating some of the coolest spots in town, so it makes sense why the tech crowd would flock to her to style their spaces as well. When one founder needed to update his new home, he called on the designer to lend the space her signature modern touch.
"Our common goals were to make the space livable by purchasing art, furniture, and accessories," explains Geremia . "I feel like it highlights quality, promotes social activities, and has a fresh take on materials and contemporary craft small-batch furniture."
After giving us a sneak peek into the space, we had to ask Geremia to share how she crafted this incredible home. Read ahead to learn about the inspiration and design process behind the elevated, yet eclectic retreat.

"The neighbor had built the house and designed it with a specific perspective — lots of wood, lots of tiled surfaces, and lots of recessed light fixtures," shares Geremia. "Some of it worked with the clients taste, some did not." "There were lots of screens that dropped the ceiling lower and others lining the walls in a decorative fashion. We removed most of these to make the space feel more open and bright."

"The client had a clear grasp on what he wanted and we both agreed on most upgrades," explains Geremia. "Simplifying and adding back in more symmetry was important. Lighting, function, and style drove the changes and yielded a more accurate reflection of his lifestyle."

Of all the decor pieces in the home, Geremia loved this light fixture best. "I had been admiring the work of the firm Mckenzie and Keim for a while," she explains. "The hardest part was narrowing down the finishes!"

One of the best parts of the home? All of the wood framing the space. "One of our favorite places was the wood slats dividing the dining room and the library," Geremia adds.

"Powder rooms always present great opportunities for experimentation and bold moves," explains Geremia. "They are small spaces that most guests will see."
"We custom designed that sink and love the way it came out. It was inspired by the stone we found," she explains. "It was so beautiful we wanted to make it a highlight in a prominent space."
