Beginning today, a gaggle of San Francisco's cutest shelter cats and dogs will get their shot at the spotlight. In an effort to find warm and loving homes for the holidays, SPCA residents will resume starring roles in Macy’s Union Square's holiday windows. Shoppers can search for the perfect gift--and what's more perfect than a fine furry friend?--in the Stockton and O’Farrell Street windows, where over 200 shelter animals found loving homes last year. Local NBC Bay Area meteorologist, Craig Herrera, will host the unveiling.

San Francisco Macy's holiday windows are the only pet-friendly Macy's windows in the country. For locals interested in viewing or adopting a pet this holiday season, the cats and dogs will be in their storefront homes every Monday through Saturday 10am to 9 pm and Sunday 11am to 8pm from now until Jan. 3. San Francisco SPCA representatives will be on site at Macy’s Union Square while the pets are on display to answer questions from potential adopters. Every adoptable animal has been medically screened, vaccinated, microchipped, and sprayed or neutered. Each animal will come with a 30-day medical assistance plan at the SF/SPCA infirmary, plus a gift bag filled with a samples, treats and valuable certificates from sponsor partners of the SF/SPCA and Macy’s. The SPCA is also seeking volunteers for the windows. Those interested in signing up to volunteer are encouraged to sign up at the SPCA website.
