Michelle tells the story of how she met Michael -
My friend from college gave her his sister's email address because she lived in Bologna, where she was studying abroad. I emailed her when I got to Bologna and she invited me to her apartment for dinner on Tuesday, 6, 2005. When I knocked on the door, Michael opened it and I pretty much haven't stopped thinking about him since. She invited him over because he was also from Northern California. He walked me home that night and we made plans to meet up that Friday. I thought about Michael all week and even wandered through the neighborhood he lived in hoping to run into him. I hadn't heard from him by Friday and I was pretty disappointed. Friday evening I was having a drink with friends when Julia called me. She was with Michael and they were nearby. He then took me dancing at a nearby club in a park and we spent the whole night together, and the entire next day--talking and falling for each other. We ended up living there for awhile."
Their wedding was all about Italian inspiration: espresso cart, limoncello, all family-style dishes, celebrating the local produce harvest. They had most of their close friends and family staying at the ranch for the three day weekend so they planned it like a week-long party. Michael once went to at a villa in Umbria and spent the days before the wedding playing soccer and bocce ball, lounging by the pool, hiking. It was a whole weekend of fun and celebration, not just the wedding.
