1. Lilac, "Days"

San Francisco-based gritty dream-pop act Lilac has been hitting venues in the Bay Area hard lately and having seen the evolution of this trio from their very first show, their attack has increased in intensity ten fold. At the end of "Days", vocalist/guitarist Will Ivy's wails take the song out with a gorgeous bang.

2. Rain Parade, "I Look Around"

Because it finally feels like summer in the city. We're rejoicing with this gem from Rain Parade, a band that was part of the 80s Paisley Underground scene in LA. Its 60s-style breezy, floating vocals and searing sitar-inspired guitar hook match the sun that's finally scorching our sidewalks.

3. Saviours, "Cavern Of Mind"

One of the overground metal bands in the Bay, Saviours are opening for sludge metal legends Weedeater next week at the Independent. This song, an oldie but goodie, is a true storm of raging guitars that's a more psychedelic version of Bolt Thrower.

4. Wet Illustrated, "Satellite Kids"

This local band (who we hear is making the move to LA quite soon) just signed to whipsmart indie label True Panther (also home to Girls), which is a huge accomplishment for such a young band. Turn up "Satellite Kids", a track found on their upcoming debut 1x1x1, dropping in October. It's a kaleidoscopic trip that employs cheeky lyrics, whiz-bang drums, howling vocals and discordant melodies reminiscent of Swell Maps.
