You know him best as your favorite corrupt president in House of Cards, but you’ve never seen Kevin Spacey quite like this. The actor takes center-stage for his first-ever public concert this weekend, and the thought of seeing Frank Underwood in the flesh has us all in a titter.
The celebrated actor is coming to the Green Music Center at Sonoma State University in Rohnert Park this Saturday, July 18, for an extremely rare concert performance.
Also, he honored our pleas for personal comments:
“I'm excited to perform for such a large audience—to do some new songs that many people aren't aware I do, and continue to share this part of me,” Spacey told 7x7.
While better known for his (often dark) roles in American Beauty, L.A. Confidential, and Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, Spacey is a talented singer and comedian, too. In the 2002 Bobby Darin biopic Beyond the Sea, Spacey sang all the songs himself.
And who can forget this classic rendition of "Talk Dirty" with the Ragtime Gals on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon:
While, Jason Derulo probably won't be on the set list, guests will be serenaded by classic hits from Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Billy Joel, Paul Simon, and others. Spacey will be backed by a full symphony orchestra, and the performance will also include some of his signature comedy and celebrity impressions along with the songs.
And don't think you can catch the actor next time he's in town — this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
“Spacey pretty much exclusively performs at high-end benefits, so this is a super rare opportunity to see him in person without shelling out thousands of dollars for a fundraising dinner,” said Green Music Center communications manager Robin Freeman.
Spacey, meanwhile, may have ulterior motives for scheduling a solo performance in Wine Country.
“I'm hoping to get some really good wines sent backstage,” he admitted. “And I wish my team good luck in keeping me from drinking a few glasses before I go out on stage.”
