Wedding Inspiration: A Mountaintop Ceremony at Lake Tahoe's Heavenly Resort
24 October 2019
At their Airbnb, Seward got down on one knee. "We couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else—we love the adventure, beauty, and tranquility of Lake Tahoe," Gibson says.
The couple landed on Heavenly Ski Resort, almost literally—wanting the landscape to take the decorative center stage, they planned their nuptials at 8,200 feet up the mountain—you know, just a nice lift ride up from the hotel.
The rest of the decor was kept simple and natural, with a pop of color in the bridesmaids's purple dresses and roses to match. The bride wore the first gown she tried on—"It was the perfect blend of boho and chic, with beautiful jewels and beads on the deep v-neck top, and layers of loose tulle flowing from my waist"—and carried a bouquet full of white peonies, roses, baby's breath, and eucalyptus. She was comfortable enough to dance the night away.
The groomsmen, meanwhile, all sported gray tuxedos with purple bowties and eucalyptus boutonniere; Seward stood out with a small arrangement of white roses. Similar flowers bloomed at the ceremony with an arch adorned with gardenias, baby's breath, and pink and orange carnations.
After the mountaintop ceremony, cocktail hour was held on the outdoor deck, which overlooked the lake and later doubled as the dance floor. The party moved indoors for the reception, while still immersed in towering trees through windows on all sides.
"We kept the centerpieces elegantly simple, with a black lantern and candle on top of natural wooden round, surrounded by white votive candles and green ivy," the bride said. Hanging string lights added a magical glow to the space.
