The wine industry is busy with harvest but it’s a three-day weekend for you, so why not a trip to the wine country for a little relaxation and celebration? September has been officially dubbed California Wine Month, so there’s a ton going on in general and many wineries will be having last minute Labor Day specials. Here are some notable deals and special events for those of you who haven’t yet decided how you want to celebrate another year of hard work.
Beaulieu Vineyardsis having a Labor Day Weekend Case Sale, which is their biggest sale of the year and includes large format and library wines. Many other wineries will be having last minute Labor Day specials so be sure to check with them or keep an eye out as you cruise the valley.
Silverado Friday Nights on the Terraceare not limited to Labor Day, but it’s a beautiful way to start the weekend and since it starts at 5:30, you've got a perfect reason to leave work a little early and beat the traffic. Call ahead.
Gordon Huether Gallery is hosting a public reception with wine from Grgich Hills for metal smiths Jennifer Banks and James Dunbar on Friday night from 4-7. The studio itself is well worth checking out and the Labor Day trunk show continues through the weekend.
Napa Wine Trainis hosting one of their Murder Mystery Dinners this weekend, (among other night and day events) where you can help solve a murder or murders along with the Detective’s Club. Tickets go quickly, especially on holiday weekends, so check the website for this and other events and in the future book well in advance.
Yountville is hosting a Labor Day Weekend BBQ on Sunday from noon to 5pm at Washington Park. There will be plenty of wine,live music, kids games, a silent auction, and all kinds of other activities to raise money for the Yountville School Foundation.
Kenny Loggins is playing at the Uptown Theatre in Napa on Sunday the 4th so come to Napa’s historic (newly renovated) concert hall after a day of wine tasting and dinner downtown. There are more and more good shows coming to Napa like Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, Band of Horses, Ryan Adams, Chicago, and Jeff Beck so if you like music with your wine, plan your next weekend around a show.

Check outSonoma Wine Country Weekend, which showcases more than 170 award winning wineries and 60 chefs at MacMurray Ranch. There will be plenty going on as they are offering a wine auction, seminars, cooking demonstrations, vineyard tours and parties at wineries all over the area.
The Finale of the 21st Annual Rodney Strong Summer Concert Series is being held Saturday in Healdsburg and with Chris Botti headlining, it’s a perfect way to mix some jazz with your wine.
Bella Vineyards and Wine Caves in Healdsburg is throwing a outdoor party on Saturday and Sunday from 11-4:30 with rootsy blues-rock and tasty bites from their chef. Kick off your shoes, drink some wine, and relax at this laid back musical event.
