Still puzzled from the weekend’s insane weather? Yeah, us too. Well, if the weather acts up again this week, feel comforted in knowing that you can stay dry and cozy watching these top-notch acts.
Leopold And His Fiction, Rickshaw Stop, 9/16: The local sultry old-school rock trio is on a roll dominating the SF venue circuit leaving their fans (ahem, us) in high anticipation for the release of their third album. Leopold And His Fiction’s entire package from lyrics to musicianship is always spot on and definitely worth a listen.
Arctic Monkeys, The Fox Theater, 9/16: Some our favorite indie Brits are touching down to give us a little taste from their latest album, Humbug, dropped just a month ago. They don’t travel around these parts too terribly often so get here if they’re on your must-see list.
Phoenix, The Warfield, 9/17: Who can resist a little energetic French pop? We sure can’t. They blew away the crowds of Bonnaroo with new tunes from their latest, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, so we can’t imagine their presence will be any less felt in the City. Get here for a non-stop dance party from the start to the very finish.
Chairlift & Micachu & The Shapes, Bottom Of The Hill, 9/17: What do you get when you blend Brooklyn-based indie pop and London-based art-punk? Why, a Chairlift & Micachu & The Shapes show, of course. Expect head-bopping, light and airy indie pop from Chairlift and bizarre envelope-pushing electro-punk from Micachu & The Shapes. This is definitely one of our favorite shows this week.
The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Great American Music Hall, 9/18: This is noise pop at its very finest. Their shows are usually sold out, so take advantage of this limited time opportunity to snag a peep at these up-and-comers.
Talib Kweli, Yoshi’s, 9/18-19: Hip-hop’s finest at one of SF’s staple Jazz joints for a 2-night stint. Sure to be a crowd pleaser, at the very least.
Citizen Cope, The Fillmore, 9/18-19:His very distinct voice and unique folk style has brought him fame from features in movies, countless commercials (Pontiac, Acura, and AXN Portugal just to name a few) and TV shows like Scrubs, One Tree Hill, Fracture, Criminal Minds, Entourage, Cold Case, CSI, So You Think You Can Dance, we could literally go on for days. He’s a great live performer, so there’s really no excuse to not stop by one of his 2-night stays at The Fillmore.
Little Boots, The Independent, 9/19: A cute little English electropop sweetheart rising to the top of her game with her multi-instrumentalist talents. She is rumored to sing, and play keyboard, piano, stylophone and the rare Tenori-on at her shows.
