With soccer filling the airwaves, many bars and restaurants are offering special deals to lure in World Cup fans. Here are a few of our favorites.
Anti-France Whiskey at Kezar Pub: The good folks at Kezar Pub (who will be open at 4:30 am for all the morning games) are putting their money where their Gallic loathing is: any time a team scores against France in a Cup game, a round of Irish whiskey shots is on them. Zidane, what have you wrought? Kezar Pub and Restaurant, 770 Stanyan St. at Waller, Upper Haight.
Anti-France Pints at O'Neill's: Also in the "we loathe France" category, O'Neill's will dole out free pints anytime a team scores against them. If Irish pubs all want us to root against France, we have to admit: it's working. O'Neill's Irish Pub, 47 3rd St. at Market, Financial District.
Breakfast Boozing at The Taco Shop: Nothing says Saturday morning like a fierce round of soccer, a $6 Bloody Mary, and a $12 bucket of Bud or Bud Light. Oh yeah, and Nick's Crispy Tacos (and breakfast burritos) are on the scene, too. Ay, caramba. The Taco Shop at Underdogs, 1824 Irving St. at 19th, Inner Sunset.
Cheap Beer at The Republic: The Marina's newest beer bar will have a rotating $4 brew special during the Cup, not to mention their usual special of $12 bottomless mimosas during Saturday and Sunday brunch (11 am-4 pm). It should all go down well with their 14 HDTVs. The Republic, 3213 Scott St. at Lombard, Marina.
Taverna Aventine Beer Deals: The two 50" sets at this FiDi watering hole just might have you staggering back late from lunch, especially with $3 bottles and $15 buckets of Black Star lager or $4 pints of Stella and Guinness on offer. Taverna Aventine, 582 Washington St. at Hotaling, Financial District.
Early-Morning Happy Hour at Mercury Lounge: Like your mornings heavy on the soccer and beer? If you hit Mercury Lounge before 7 am, you'll be rewarded with a free cup of coffee or $1 pint, depending on your preference. The soccer fanatics here will have every last game available (along with breakfast). Mercury Lounge, 1582 Folsom St. at 12th St., SOMA.
Coors Light at Jake's Steaks: We can't say it's the first beer we think of when we think "World Cup," but with 22 oz glasses of Coors Light available all day at this Marina hangout for $3, we're not complaining. Wear the jersey of a team that's playing the day you go, and your 22 oz brewski is only $2. Jake's Steaks, 3301 Buchanan St. at Lombard, Marina.
Cheap Beer at McTeague's: It made the Final Four of Thrillist's national Best Sports Bar contest, so why not see what all the fuss is about? The bar opens at 6:30 am on game days, and $3 Heineken, Heineken Light, Amstel Light, and Newcastle Summer are available. McTeague's Saloon, 1237 Polk St. at Bush, Polk Gulch.
Early Showings at Danny Coyle’s: It’s one of the few spots braving the 4:30 am games. Eight HDTVs, a large projection screen and a full bar should be enough to get you out of bed. Danny Coyle’s, 668 Haight St. at Pierce, Lower Haight.
