The Guitar Zeros' equipment
I’d like to think of myself as a fairly handy person. If I did that, though, it would be a lie. That’s not to say that someone un-handy can’t have a healthy appreciation for those who are—which is why next week’s Maker Faire is still incredibly appealing. A two-day event geared toward celebrating all things DIY, the make-a-palooza is a hands-on tour de force including such wide-ranging makers as Greathouse Labs (known for their fire/robot/vehicular/animatronic displays) and the Guitar Zeros (a rock band that has repurposed the Guitar Hero video game controllers into instruments that play synthesized sounds). Plus, there’s the obligatory tribute to the ultimate maker: a lecture by MacGyver creator Lee Zlotoff entitled “MacGyver: The Making of a Cultural Icon.” Awesome.
