There's no greater feeling than when your favorite things collide.
So what if we told you that you may now drink rosé on a warm, sunny day, with all your friends, inside a shiny vintage travel trailer overlooking the Pacific Ocean? Prepare for an "OMG let's go" moment.
Based in San Luis Obispo, Malene Wines first launched its small-batch, Provençal-style rosé in May 2016. Now, to celebrate the 2017 vintage, the winery is taking its tasting room on the road in style—in a 1969 Airstream Overlander trailer.
Rebuilt and customized by Silver Bullet Trailer with the '60s surf scene in mind, this boozy Airstream channels the laid-back vibes of SLO, with the original exterior opening onto a modern Cali-style interior, palm fronds and shag rag included. Equipped with a tasting bar and cushiony booth for sipping, Malene will be serving the latest vintage of winemaker Fintan du Fresne's crisp, dry, Grenache-based rosé, made mostly with fruit from Santa Barbara County, on tap (we love the peachy handles).
Catch Malene parked, for now, next to Chamisal Vineyards' tasting room (7525 Orcutt Rd.), about 15 minutes south of downtown SLO. In true #vanlife fashion, the rosé-toting trailer will soon hit the road to provide refreshing sips at events including the Austin Food & Wine Festival (April 27-29), before heading back home in May.
