Market Watch: Drink to the Smooth Sounds of Yacht Rock with the City's Best Bartenders
20 August 2013
Smooth sounds and smooth drinks are on the itinerary as we drop anchor at the Ferry Building for Yacht Rock II: Summer Cocktails of the Farmers Market on August 28. With a sly nod to America’s Cup, CUESA and the Northern California chapter of the United States Bartenders Guild have joined forces once again to assemble an all-star lineup of talented bartenders and chefs who will be offering maritime inspired libations and hors d’oeuvres made from Ferry Plaza Farmers Market ingredients.
Guests will enjoy full-sized cocktails from Jared Anderson of Comstock Saloon and Mauricio Arce of Monarch, as well as 11 sample-sized sips from the mixologists at 15 Romolo, Burritt Room, Rickhouse and more. Bites include roast beef sliders from Bocanova, rum-braised and jerked pork shoulder from Tango & Stache, and ceviche from La Mar. Once you’ve sampled all the goods, vote for your favorites and be entered to win one of five farmers market prizes.
While boat shoes and a captain’s hat aren’t mandatory, guests are encouraged to take seafaring style cues and enter our Yacht Rock costume contest, sponsored by Epicuring. (Check out last year’s photo album for inspiration.) Nautically attired fashionistas will have a chance to win a make-your-own-cocktail market basket. We’ll also enjoy some sweet tunes from DJ Glenny Kravitz, and land lubbers will have a chance to grab the mic and sing along to their favorite smooth-sailing tunes from Kenny Loggins, Toto and The Doobie Brothers.
Proceeds from the evening’s festivities will support CUESA’s educational programs, including the free weekly cooking demos held in the CUESA Classroom each Saturday. Tickets for Yacht Rock II are $40 and available now—but going fast. Market Watch readers can enter code “marketwatch” to get theirs for 20% off! Get yours today before you miss the boat.
