Anyone who reads 7x7.com on the regular knows how much we love animals. Welcome to our new series "Meet Your New Best Friend," with the support of the animal lovers at K9 Scrub Club. It's a weekly chance for you to find your star-crossed furry friend and learn about different animal rescue agencies while you're at it.
This week, say hello to the great Loup Garou Rescue. They're dedicated to the rescue of black and dark colored companion animals from shelters where they are disproportionately euthanized for their color. Today, we want you to meet Sammy andXander. Read their backstories below and get in touch with Loup Garou Rescue by emailing them at jenn@lgrescue.org ASAP to adopt one or both of these delightful pups! And just a note, Loup Garou will be doing a mobile adoption at K9 Scrub Club on August 18th. Drop by!
Sammy is a firecracker of a guy, which stands to reason, because we believe his approximate birthday to be July 4, 2011! He was a stray at a Central Valley shelter, and it's hard to believe no one ever came looking for him. He is an athlete, a pal and a lover, all rolled into one....he is as happy to run after a ball or play with his doggie friends as he is to curl up in your lap and fall asleep.
Sammy is a smart, sleek and elegant terrier mix (maybe with basenji? schipperke?) We aren't surewhat the mix is....but whatever it is, it makes him 100% adorable!) His energy level is pretty high, so he would do well in a home with people who will take him hiking or running. He's smart, motivated to learn and would benefit from obedience training. He weighs approximately 20 lbs, so he's the perfect city-sized dog. Sammy is neutered, micro-chipped and current on all vaccines. If you have a place in your heart and your home for Sweet Sam, please contact jenn@lgrescue.org!
Xander was a stray hit by a car in North Beach and brought in to SF ACC by a good Samaritan. There it was discovered why he was hit: He is blind! LGR took Xander to the eye vet, who said that one of his eyes can be fixed. LGR has been fund raising like crazy to get Xander the operation he needs in order to be able to see, and finally, this month he will have the surgery to get his vision back...hooray!
Xander is a spaniel mix with silky soft hair. His age is somewhat of a mystery: Our vet estimates between 3 and 6 years old. His energy level is moderate...he loves going for a walk but is also happy to roll over and hold still for tummy rubs for as long as you're willing to give them! Xander weighs approximately 20 lbs., is neutered, microchipped and current on all vaccines. He loves everyone, except for cats! If you have a soft place for this terrific guy to land, please contact jenn@lgrescue.org.
