Hailing from Melbourne, Australia, electropop threesome Midnight Juggarnauts have a mighty sound fit for such a force-to-be-reckoned-with moniker. With a high-energy live show that feels like psychedelic space travel to an underworld disco, this Aussie trio has opened up for dance music heavies like Justice, Annie, Death From Above 1979 and—my personal fave—the unstoppable electro remix duo MSTRKRFT. On their stunning debut Dystopia, Midnight Juggernauts mix atmospheric soundscapes with twittering synths and dance-ready beats to create a sound that's more than a mere flash-in-the-pan disposable club hit. On tracks like “Into the Galaxy” Ziggy Stardust-era Bowie is conjured in alien-esque stoic vocals and spaced-out synths straight from the mothership.
